Welcome to wolviegames.com!

This site is geared towards computer game development for beginning and intermediate programmers. It's meant for those who aren't quite sure what the first steps are in creating their own games, be it technological, motivational, or organizational. This site's goal is to eventually have a large database of articles with these purposes in mind, free of charge, so that any aspiring computer game designer, programmer, QA/Tester or manager can learn the steps necessary to achieve this goal.

Computer game development is tricky work. There are so many technological changes, different programming languages, different game design preferences that it can be boggling to know where to start. The industry is diverse, from companies who staff hundreds of programmers, artists, and designers and have multi-million dollar budgets to have blockbuster games realized, all the way down to a small one-man team developer who programs casual games in their spare time. My primary focus is towards the latter, but I hope that some of my articles will help those who are aiming for, or already are in, the former.

The topics that I'd like to cover in the long run are the following:

  • Game Design Concepts
  • Beginning Programming Tips
  • Graphics Programming
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Book Reviews
  • Optimization / Performance Issues
  • Game Balance
  • Team Organization
  • Personal Development
This list will grow as time goes on.

Thanks, and enjoy the show!
